The likelihood of a hurricane hitting land in July is fairly remote based on past experience. Local TV and radio are very weather sensitive and broadcast weather reports reggularly.
Endeavor, Thanks for the info. I'm from El Paso, so I know sun and sun screen very well. I really appreciate your help.
The Island Cow Gluten Free - Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, FL
As Endeavour noted, in July we have thunderstorms in the afternoon but they make for fantastic sunsets at dusk, especially if you're on the beach. Water temperatures are in the 80s. Air temps are in the 90s - and do bring high SPF and plenty of water. Try Traders restaurant. It's excellent and it's housed in an eclectic store. The jacarand restaurant is romantic and they have a reggae bar with dancing. The Jensen brothers are fantastic people and the marina is old style Florida. If you do rent a boat then go to Cabbage Key island and visit the restaurant where Jimmy Buffet was inspired to write his song, Cheeseburger in Paradise.
To me it is the perfect time to go. Not a lot of traffic and crowds or long wait at restaurants. There are afternoon showers but usually pass over quickly. Shelling is great after a storm. We have never been disappointed going in July. Sometimes it is nice to just sit on the lanai and listen to the rain, it is so relaxing. We plan shopping excursions when we know rain is coming and do beach and shelling early mornings and mid afternoons and low tide is best for shelling. Enjoy Sanibel!! It is paradise.
The gulf is beautiful, the beaches are beautiful and locals who live there and work there are the nicest people. We will never go anywhere else for vacation. Lighthouse cafe is great place for good reasonably priced breakfast. May have short wait there as many eat there. Hungary Heron has huge menu and there will be something for everyone. The Island Cow is another good place to eat and Matzaluna if you want Italian We have also ate at Morgans Forest which is neat for kids with all the jungle animal atmosphere. Can go to web pages for a lot of these restaurants and check out menus, prices and atmosphere.
Bubble Room is great place for lunch She Sells Sea Shells is also great place to buy shells and Baileys also has alot of merchandise at reasonable prices. All the shops are great and unique. A mix of expensive and not so expensive. Ding Darling is very interesting but check as soon as you get there. They are closed either on Monday or Friday Can rent bikes and there are some that look like surreys that I think 4 can get in. You will not be disappointed!! If that doesn't bother you, then don't worry about anything else! Sanibel is paradise and I know you'll have a great time!
Thank you all so much for your information. We are really looking forward to this trip, and you have eased my concerns about the weather. I'm glad I found these forums, and the information has certainly been helpful. Another thing that they did not warn you of are the no-see-um bugs. The are a very, very small mosquito. There are many more of them during the rainy season. If they like your body chemistry they will swarm you. When firefighters used a boat to get to the island, the cow swam about 50 metres to a neighbouring peninsula.

A vet called in to tranquillise the animal told Mr Lukasz he had run out of gas cartridges, and that it would take several days to get new ones. Therefore, I decided to do everything to cause the cow to be delivered to a safe place and in the second stage, as a reward for her attitude, give her a guarantee of a long-term retirement and natural death. It’s cheesy, cynical and a cash cow. So why are we glued to Love Island?
Rugby union. Motor racing. The food was impeccable, great portion sizes and perfectly cooked, the drinks were classy and consistent and the staff was beyond helpful. Every one of my guests had an amazing, memorable time. Thank you, Cowfish for making my wedding day beautiful. The food was wonderful! The servers were very friendly. We even spoke with the Chef and he was wonderful! So happy we went! Fabulous restaurant. Beautiful scenery. The service was absolutely outstanding, our server was delightful. The food is eclectic and fun, most importantly, delicious.
We tried the deviled eggs and Brussels sprouts appetizers - they were scrumptious. We had a party of 7, everyone loved their meal.

Oh my god. I've always loved this place but it has skyrocketed to my top ten for brunch places the bananas foster French toast and croque madame are perfect dishes to split between two people.
What a view!
